So, what’s a Gem Machanla? In Sri Lankan slang, machanla is a playful take on machan — our way of saying “bro”, “mate”, “my dude.” Add “gem” to the front and you’ve got a lighthearted nickname for the crew behind the sparkle. It’s a little bit local pride, a little bit surf culture, and a whole lot of character.
